Description
Hutchinson Heritage Farm began in 1999, with a few chickens and a milk cow. It slowly blossomed into dairy goats, sheep, registered Polled Hereford cattle, Central Asian Shepherd livestock guardian dogs, AMHA/AMHR mini horses, peafowl, and an occasional pig or two.
After contemplating getting a miniature donkey as a pet for quite some time, we finally took the plunge and got 3 MDR jennets from Cyder Bay Farm in 2019. Well, it all snowballed from there; after all, you have to have one of every color, right? Between purchasing a few more quality jennets from good breeders, and foals born on the farm, the herd now fluctuates around 10 jennets.
We were pleased to acquire the well known Quarter Moon Ticker Tape as the first jack on our farm. So far, this little red fellow has sired 7 foals for us; 6 of which have been jennets! Even at 22 years old, if all goes well, we are expecting 4 more babies from him this year.
Another red guy, Ma & Pa’s Red Pepper, joined the herd late last year. We look forward to using this consistent producer on some of the young jennets this summer.
We will also be adding Cyder’s Coltrane as a junior herd sire. This well built, NLP black jack has a great pedigree and alot of color behind him. Since the other jacks are getting up in age, it will be nice to have a young one with a big future ahead of him.
Whether it is donkeys, or the many other livestock that we raise, Hutchinson Heritage Farm strives to produce quality animals and preserve valued bloodlines.
